Assistant Director for International Student Services
Susan Imbeah

Susan is the Assistant Director for International Student Services at Cranwell International Center. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Susan was an International Student Advisor at Saint Louis University (SLU) in Saint Louis, Missouri and held multiple positions in the Student Services department at St Louis Community college before then.

Susan brings with her a wealth of knowledge and several years of experience in higher education with the last five years in international advising and programming. As a Student Support Specialist at St Louis Community College, she authored the article "The Blended Position: A growing Trend" in NACADA's "Academic Advising Today" to demonstrate the various roles she played and how they came full circle to support the student. At SLU, Susan managed a caseload of 1000 students while supporting the department in activities such as International Student Orientation, "Meet the President," Thanksgiving and the famous "Taste of" series. In addition, Susan enjoyed advising students and took the initiative in starting a mentorship program to help international students navigate the transition to SLU. Participating in the "SLU START" trip to India to engage students who had indicated an interest in attending Saint Louis University was one of the highlights of Susan's career at SLU: a collaboration between the Office of International Services and the Admissions team.

Susan holds a B.A in Administration from the University of Cape Coast and a Master's in Business Administration from Maryville University of Saint Louis. Outside of work, Susan loves to travel the world with her husband to enjoy different cultures, spend time with family and friends, read bestsellers by John Grisham and Robert Ludlum, study scripture, cook Ghanaian cuisine and just enjoy some alone time at the park.
