Karen Wills provides a wide range of immigration and support services to undergraduate and graduate international students in the following departments within the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech:

Karen serves as a Senior International Student Advisor in Cranwell International Center. As a Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Officer, she interprets federal immigration regulations, issues eligibility documents, and advises international students and university faculty/staff to ensure compliance. She has served at Virginia Tech for 15 years in progressive student services positions, providing program support, office support, community engagement, and immigration advising. She has participated in NAFSA conferences, provided presentations on immigration regulations and cultural adjustment to students and faculty, and developed immigration web content. She has a bachelor’s degree from Hiram College with a major in Spanish and a minor in Sociology. A study abroad experience in Mexico, extensive customer service experience, and multiple relocations within the United States contribute to her compassion for the cultural, emotional, and logistical challenges of international students.
