You may start arriving on campus on Monday, August 14, 2017.  Please make sure you arrive NO LATER THAN the start of the Orientation Program. Orientation begins on Monday, August 21, 2017 and continues through Thursday, August 24, 2017. 

The Orientation Program is designed to help new undergraduate international students make a successful transition to life at Virginia Tech. The program is divided into four sections: Necessities, Essentials (Part One), Essentials (Part Two), and Transitions.

Please make sure that you register for BOTH orientation sessions. Your registration is not complete until both are submitted. 

In addition, all new students must complete an Immigration Check-In at Cranwell International Center. You may complete this process beginning Wednesday, August 17, 2017 during normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

Welcome activities will be offered beginning Thursday, August 17, 2017; a detailed schedule will be published in the near future, so please check back often for updates. 

Necessities

Today, you will be able to move into your residence hall! You  will also have opportunities to take care of a wide range of necessities that are important for a good start to your life at Virginia Tech, such as getting your Hokie Passport, making sure your PID and 2-Factor Authentication are functioning properly, preparing for your academic advising meetings and course registration later in the week, setting up your local bank account and mobile phone services, and more. Global Ambassadors will be available to assist you with many of these necessities , as well as with any other questions you might have.

Transitions 

Today, New Student Programs will help you complete the final transition step to become a Hokie. In addition to learning about more resources on campus, you will complete final registration for your classes and receive your Academic Schedule. Please make sure your PID/2-Factor Authentication is functioning properly and you have successfully completed the Registration Requirements prior to this day. (See Pre-Arrival page for detailed information).
