All forms need a five (5) business day processing time, so please submit prior to any deadline.

Please note, several forms are not available via our website; these require students to meet with an advisor due to their highly regulatory nature. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Cranwell International Center or look over the Immigration Regulations page. 

Add Dependent Request

This form must be completed by students requesting a Form I-20 for their spouse and/or dependent children to use to obtain their F-2 visa for the US. 

Affidavit of Support

This form must be completed when a student's source of funding is not in the student’s name. 

Authorized Early Withdrawal

This form must be completed by any student who wishes to take a leave of absence, or withdraw, from the university.

Students must first obtain approval from the Cranwell International Center before dropping classes. Please meet with a DSO/ARO before leaving the University. Withdrawing from the university without authorization from the Cranwell International Center will result in a negative termination on a student’s SEVIS record. 

Change of Status

Students seeking a Change of Status must set an appointment with an immigration advisor. 

Concurrent Enrollment

This form must be completed by any F-1 student seeking to enroll at both Virginia Tech and another accredited institution.

Students must obtain approval from their academic department and Cranwell International Center.  Students are required to be registered in at least 12 credits, 9 of which must be on-campus during the academic term.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

Students seeking to apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) must attend a CPT Seminar OR set an appointment with an immigration advisor. You can read more about employment regulations here.

Form I-20 Request (Initial)

This form must completed by any F-1 student that has been outside of the US for more than 5 months and needs a new initial Form I-20.

Students who have been terminated for other reasons, such as suspension, must also receive a new initial Form I-20 before reentering the US. 

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Students seeking to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) must attend an OPT Seminar OR set an appointment with an immigration advisor. You can read more about employment regulations here.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) Reporting

This form must be completed by any F-1 student on OPT who has had a change in the following:

  • Address and/or name change
  • Change in employer
  • Change in status
  • Any period(s) of unemployment

Students are required to report these changes to the Cranwell International Center within 10 days of the change.

Reduced Course Load (Academic)

This form must be completed by students who wish to drop below full-time (12 credits) during the academic term.

Students may not drop below full-time prior to approval from the Cranwell International Center.

Reduced Course Load (Medical)

This form must be completed by students who wish to drop below full-time (12 credits) due to illness or medical condition. 

Students may not drop below full-time prior to approval from the Cranwell International Center or without having their form signed by a licensed medical practitioner.

Reinstatement 

Students seeking Reinstatement must set an appointment with an immigration advisor. 

Transfer Out

This form must be completed by students wishing to transfer out of Virginia Tech.

Students will need to provide an acceptance letter from the institution they will attend when submitting this form.

Travel Signature Request

This form must be completed by students who wish to travel outside the US, but plan to return and resume their studies.  

Travel Signatures are valid for one year from the date signed. Please plan ahead prior to any breaks to ensure this form is submitted with enough processing time prior to leaving the US. Any forms turned in late are subject to shipping costs in order to recieve it prior to returning to the US.
